PATHWAYS TO LICENSURE

School Pathway

Training Hours: 600

Complete 600 hours in a Board-approved esthetics school program. Applicants take the approved Esthetics Theory examination through the Board's testing vendor; a qualifying NIC score may support an examination waiver where permitted. The classification covers skin care, spa, and makeup services within Hawaii's nonmedical scope. Licenses expire December 31 of each odd-numbered year. No routine practitioner continuing-education requirement was identified. Applicants licensed elsewhere should follow the Board's endorsement and examination-waiver documentation requirements.

Apprenticeship Pathway

Training Hours: 1,200

The apprenticeship alternative requires 1,200 hours of approved esthetics training.
